JAMES B. LATHAM, AGED PIONEER, DIES Nyssa, Oregon, Oct, 6.-James B. Latham died here Sept. 24, He was born May 9, 1840, in Lancashire, England. He was baptized in 1861 and came to Utah in 1863. He crossed the plains by ox teams and arrived in Salt Lake City Oct. 13. He remained there until 1878, when he removed to Georgetown, Bear Lake county, Idaho. In 1904 he removed from there to Gray's Lake, Idaho, and from the latter place to Moore, Idaho, in 1907. Three weeks before his death he came to Nyssa to spend the winter on account of his health. He was a high priest and was always active in church work. He is survived by his wife and 11 children; Mary L. Kyne, Huntington, Oregon; Tabitha McCammon, Georgetown, Idaho; Alice L. McCurdy, Tippets, Nevada; Emeline Hansen, Nyssa, Oregon; Jesse Latham, Auburn, Wyo.; George, Ephraim, Wilford, Archibald, Charles and Henry Latham, Moore, Idaho. The youngest is 18, and all but one were present at the funeral. Six sons acted as pall bearers. Interment was in the cemetery at Moore.Deseret News October 9, 1916 View Original |
